Shaw, Reta A. (O’Connor), 91, July 27, 2014.  Calling hours are Saturday, August 2, 2014 from noon to 1 p.m. at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow at the St. Denis Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.  Arrangements by Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.


 

    FORT FAIRFIELD – Reta A. (O’Connor) Shaw, 91, wife of the late Richard Shaw, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2014, at a Caribou nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1923 in Tilley, New Brunswick, the daughter of Mansfield and Pearl (Embleton) O’Connor.
    She attended Tilley schools and became a resident of Fort Fairfield at the age of 16 where she attended local schools and attended the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and as an immaculate housekeeper who always kept a clean and welcoming home.
    In addition to her parents, Reta was predeceased by her husband, Richard Shaw; her companion of many years, Denzil “Bill” Evans; four brothers, Floyd Kelley, Paul, Vincent and Vaughn O’Connor; and one sister, Ann Curtis. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Reid of Preston, CT, Ruth “CiCe” Anderson of Cocoa, FL, Kathy and Jim Weatherhead of Limestone; two sisters, Joyce Baalmann and her husband, Ed of Winfield, KS, Joan O’Connor of Charleston; two step-daughters, Jean Shaw of Caribou and Jill Player of Fort Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call Saturday, August 2, 2014, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where the funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Reta’s family wishes to express their gratitude for all the wonderful care given to Reta during her stay at the Caribou Nursing Home.
