The Maine Better Transportation Association and Northern Maine Development Commission will host two sessions today, at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle, to highlight Aroostook County highway, bridge, rail and other transportation needs.

“At 3 p.m. on Aug. 6, John Melrose, senior policy consultant for MBTA, will discuss his research on Aroostook County transportation needs and invites the public to provide their input on the area’s needs. Local officials, businesspeople and other citizens are invited to provide feedback following his presentation,” said Maria Fuentes, MBTA spokesperson.
There is no cost to attend the 3 p.m. session.
Following a reception and dinner (cost of $35; RSVPs required), Fuentes said a panel of local and statewide officials will discuss the state of Aroostook’s transportation infrastructure, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
“Panelists include: Nate Moulton, director of rail for Maine DOT; Jay Kamm, senior planner for NMDC; and Scott Wardwell, director, Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle,” said Fuentes.
Moderating the panel will be Hon. Charles Theriault (D-Madawaska), House chair of the Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Transportation.
