Hewitt, Phyllis M., 79, July 31, 2014.  Calling hours are today, August 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mockler Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 7 at 1 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.


 

    CARIBOU – Phyllis M. Hewitt, 79, wife of the late Bert W. Hewitt Jr., passed away Thursday afternoon July 31, 2014, at a Caribou nursing facility following an extended illness. She was born October 4, 1934, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Kelley) Devine.
    She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School Class of 1953 and had been employed by JC Penney in both their Caribou and Presque Isle stores, retiring after 25 years of service. She had been a communicant of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou for many years, was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Caribou, and a member of the Caribou VFW Lister Knowlton Post 9389 Ladies Auxiliary. Phyllis greatly enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. She very much enjoyed family gatherings.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bert and a sister, Barbara Hewitt. She is survived by one sister, Marion Drost of Caribou; several nieces and nephews, including Peggy of Saco, Deborah of Caribou and Laurie of Woodland; two brothers-in-law, Floyd and Gordon Hewitt, both of Caribou; a sister-in-law, Fanny Dionne of Washburn; and a very dear special friend, Marilyn Wilcox of Caribou.
    Friends may call Wednesday August 6, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mockler Funeral Home. 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou with Father Jean-Paul Labrie Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Lombard Road Caribou.
