FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Officials with the Aroostook County Chapter of Credit Unions recently announced that their annual golf outing on Aug. 21 has successfully raised funds for the charities Ending Hunger in Maine, Special Olympics as well as the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC).
This is the ninth year that the Aroostook Chapter of Credit Unions held their annual golf outing in Fort Fairfield. Due to generous sponsors, registration fees and the “not so silent auction,” the chapter was able to raise just shy of $6,000 to split among the three charities.
The event is held every year at the Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield and was started nine years ago with only five teams. Over the years it has grown into a sold-out event of 18 teams and has raised more than $35,000 for charity since its inception.
The Aroostook Chapter of Credit Unions has been very active over the years raising money to help end hunger in Maine, supporting Special Olympics and backing legislative action to protect the best interests of its members, according to officials with the Aroostook County Chapter of Credit Unions. The active financial institutions involved with the ACCCU are Acadia FCU, NorState FCU and The County FCU.
