WOODLAND – Thelma B. and Frank “Orvice” Frost, Sr. passed away with their loving family by their sides, Thelma, Monday evening, September 22nd, and Orvice early Tuesday morning, September 23rd. Orvice was born August 18, 1926, in Woodland, the son of Milton A. and Ola (Libby) Frost. Thelma was born March 7, 1927, in Caribou, the daughter of Leo Sr. and Lena (Wilcox) McLaughlin.
They both attended local schools. They married on March 14, 1944. Orvice served in the U. S. Army during World War II earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon among others. He then was employed as a mechanic for local auto dealerships, and for his son, Frank Frost. He was a carpenter “by heart” and loved to play the harmonica. He will be remembered for his jokes and story-telling. Thelma loved gardening, canning, baking, knitting and was an amazing homemaker. They were both avid outdoorsmen. In addition to their parents, they were predeceased by a son, Frank Orvice, Jr. They are survived by two sons, Milton A. Frost and Randy L. Frost, both of Woodland; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bill Rodgers of Old Orchard Beach, Sharon and Don Peters of New Sweden, Susan Frost of Caribou, Cindy and Jim Norwood of Ellenton, FL; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Frost of Caribou, and 24 grandchildren: Billy Rodgers, Cheryl McKee, Kathy Bearden, Tracy Libby, Jerry Kinney, Karen Rockwell, Lori Hudson, Debbie Cyr, Sandy Boyce, Carmen Stuart, Dawn Cloutier, Frank O. Frost III, Carmen Huck, Bruce Frost, Michelle Boucher, JayLynn Sheldon, Judy Phair, Linny Walton, Jonathan Norwood, Dana Norwood, Heidi Carlson, Timmy Frost, Erica Guerrette and Jordan Frost. They also had 44 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma also leaves behind a sister, Mavis Carson, of Caribou.
A service to celebrate the lives of Thelma and Orvice was held Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodland with Pastor Ron Rosser officiating. A time of fellowship was held immediately following at the church. Private interment took place at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Caribou. In lieu of flowers, contributions in their memory may be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
