The RSU 39 School Board took a step toward improvements at a local facility and were introduced to the district’s new Facebook page during their Nov. 5, 2014 meeting at the Caribou Learning Center.
Board members approved placing a legal advertisement for architects and engineers to request qualifications for the project, and extended the deadline for bids to Monday, Dec. 1.
Details on the exact nature of the plan were not available, but on Friday RSU 39 executive administrative assistant Laurie Chapman said she could confirm it will be a capital improvement project at a Caribou elementary school.
In her report to the board, Superintendent Susan White noted two new hires, namely Kirk Cote, Limestone Community School middle-level boys’ basketball coach, and Dan Fishman, Caribou High School adviser for the Class of 2018. In addition, Eric McGough was named as the new volunteer assistant coach for middle-level girls’ basketball at LCS.
White also gave an update on the development of a district-wide timeline for proficiency-based education efforts, and introduced new RSU 39 Facebook page, on which are listed a number of school happenings, cancellations and other information.
Payment is also forthcoming from Caswell Superintendent Bill Dobbins for outstanding tuition for Caswell students, White reported.
Following regular business, the board adjourned for a 40-minute executive session to discuss employee negotiation matters. After that session, members voted unanimously to appoint chair Clifford Rhome and John Sjostedt as the board’s representatives on committees to review aspects of the collective bargaining agreement.
