CARIBOU, Maine — The National Honor Society Faculty Council of the Caribou chapter recently announced the election of 16 new members to the Caribou High School NHS.
Inducted were, from the Class of 2015, Ricky Perry, Kaitlyn Ring and Kyle Tibbetts; and from the Class of 2016, Molly Adams, Chelsea Chapman, Sarah Draper, Maria Espinosa, Benjamin Ezzy, Kate Finnemore, Michael Hunter, Ethan Plourde, Donovan Savage, Madison Staples, Megan Theriault, Irene Thibodeau and Elijah Verhoff.

This year marks the 87th year of continuous service of the NHS, making it the oldest operating student organization at CHS. The chapter’s adviser is Kenneth W. Atcheson II.
Preceding the induction ceremony was a chicken Parmesan dinner with a mix of fresh vegetables, Atcheson Farms Russet Norkotah baked accordion potatoes, Caesar salad, dinner rolls from Frederick’s Southside Restaurant, the famous NHS Lettuce Punch, and a dessert buffet of designer cupcakes courtesy of NHS chefs Mackenzie Deveau and Kristopher Michaud.
Parents of NHS alumni, under the direction of Patricia Anderson, decorated the hall with white tablecloths, matching NHS white and gold placemats, napkins and individual place cards for each member and their invited guests. Each table was festooned with beautiful arrangements provided by Noyes Flower and Plant Shoppe. Student volunteers from the classes of 2017 and 2018 helped to serve dinner. Caribou High School Cafeteria cook Linda Tupper supervised the meal preparation.
The pin and oath induction ceremony followed the dinner, presided over by Caribou NHS Chapter President Michael Marquis. Mark A. Jones, CHS principal, administered the oath to the 16 new inductees. NHS Vice President Kristopher Michaud entertained the assembly with a piano rendition of “The Scientist” by Coldplay.
Each new inductee was given a presentation bouquet of flowers in the colors of the NHS, to award to a special guest in the audience. Marquis chaired the induction ceremony portion of the evening.
“The National Honor Society is most grateful for the gracious donations of items making this event a wonderful memory for so many,” said NHS representatives. “Thank you to Atcheson Farms for the delicious potatoes, Frederick’s Southside for the beautiful rolls, Sleeper’s Market, Noyes Flower and Plant Shoppe for the attractive table settings, and Debbie Sirois and the Atchesons for the donation of a new set of white tablecloths for the use of the NHS.”
