• News from East Washburn — Wilmont Crouse seems to be the man who knows how to gather up a drove of cattle; last Saturday he had forty-six head driven on this road. Thomas Hemphill sold his farm to J. P. Churchill and has taken in part some Presque Isle village property. Lots of young people are enjoying the skating these days.
• A ‘crackerjack’ Christmas list — H. H. Whitney states in their advertisement, A pretty new piece of furniture is just the thing for Christmas and we have a crackerjack list to choose from including: brass beds, $10 – $35; silk floss mattresses $13 – $19; and dining tables $5 – $40.
75 Years Ago-Dec. 14, 1939
• St. Lukes dedicates new organ — A concert will be given by the choir of St. Lukes Church on December 17 at 7:30 p.m. at which time the new Hammond electric organ will be dedicated. The choir is under the direction of Charles C. Emery.
• Limestone forms Rotary Club — A newly formed Rotary club will hold their first meeting in Limestone Thursday evening in the Masonic hall at 6:30 o’clock. John MacKinnon, president of the Caribou Rotary Club and George M. Carter, special representative of the Rotary District Governor, will assist in the new chapter’s organization.

• Firemen as Santa’s elves — The Caribou Fire Department has embarked on its annual Christmas toy project for needy children and Chief Don Woods says any donation of old, broken, bent or unpainted playthings of any description would be helpful. “Our men will mend, repair and paint and have them ready for Santa Claus.”
• 4-H winner meets Jim Nabors — Betsy Clark of Fort Fairfield, the 1964 State Winner of the 4-H Foods-Nutrition Award, met television star Jim Nabors of the CBS “Gomer Pyle Show”while at the 43rd National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago.
25 Years Ago-Dec. 13, 1989
• Blaze destroys Skyline motel — The cause of the Thanksgiving Day fire that left 15 Caribou residents homeless is still unknown. The Skyline Inn, located about one mile from the West Gate of Loring Air Force Base on the Sawyer Road was completely destroyed.
• Mockler is Kiwanis president — Jim Mockler of Caribou was installed as president of the Kiwanis Club of Caribou during a recent meeting. Also installed were Craig Staples, vice president; Rick Belanger, second vice president; Everett Milton, treasurer; and Elaine Nadeau, secretary.
