The Caribou Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post No. 9889 held their annual coloring contest at Hilltop Elementary School for second-grade students who wished to participate. The award ceremony for the contest was held on Dec. 1 at the school with 78 students taking part.

The Caribou Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post No. 9889 held their annual coloring contest at Hilltop Elementary School for second-graders. Each student received an American flag, a ruler with the Pledge of Allegiance printed on it, as well as a picture of all 44 of the nation’s presidents. All participants also received a pencil and a printed copy of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The top 10 students all received gift certificates, while the top three earned a monetary award. First-place received $15, second-place earned $10 and the third-place finisher won $5. The third-place award went to Abbie Gauvin, second-place was awarded to Madelynn Deprey and the first-place winner of the coloring contest was Joshua Pitre.
During the award ceremony The Pledge of Allegiance was recited while all 78 students saluted our nation’s flag.
