Washburn kept its perfect season intact, the Fort Fairfield Tigers bounced back from a loss to the Beavers by tacking on two more wins and the Limestone-MSSM Eagles are still in the tourney hunt despite two losses last week to summarize recent girls’ basketball action in the Class D ranks.
The Washburn team is currently 10-0 and atop the Heal Point standings in its division. The team faces a light upcoming schedule, with a game planned for tonight at home against Easton and not another coming up until next Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Hodgdon.
Fort Fairfield is in fourth with its 7-1 record — one slot behind 8-4 Easton, a team the Tigers have beaten both times this season. However, coach Larry Gardner’s Fort Fairfield squad has played two fewer games than most other teams in its division.
Coach Becky West’s Limestone-MSSM squad is still hanging around and in contention for a playoff berth despite a 3-8 record and a pair of losses last week.
The Caribou girls have now dropped six consecutive games and are 1-7 on the season following losses to Presque Isle and Hermon this past week.
