Judd and Scott takes firsts in swim meet

LIMESTONE, Maine — Foxcroft Academy joined local swim teams Caribou and Presque Isle at Saturday’s meet at the Limestone Community School pool.
The Caribou boys were beaten by the Ponies but defeated the Wildcats, while the Viking girls lost to both opponents, but by just a single point to PI.


In the 200 medley relay, Caribou’s team of Courtney Cote, Olivia Engstrom, Kyra Thibeault and Maddy Yakel placed third in 2:40.52.
For the 200 free, Dominic Judd of the Vikes was first in 2:27.1, while Thibeault led the girls by ending up third in 3:07.59.
Austin Scott picked up an individual victory in the boys’ 200 I.M., recording a time of 2:27.1 The Caribou girls’ top finisher was Engstrom, who was fourth in 3:04.8.
Taking second and third, respectively, in the girls’ 50 free were Thibeault (34.47 seconds) and Yakel (35.26). The Caribou boys were led in the event by Stewart Curtis, who was fourth in 32.44.
Scott picked up another triumph in the 100 fly in 1:01.8.
The 100 free had two girls and two boys from Caribou place among the top four. Cote was third in 1:21.91 and Yakel fourth in 1:22.84 for girls, while Judd was second in 1:03.65 and Stewart third in 1:19.85 for boys.
Engstrom picked up a second-place finish in the 500 free in 7:24.56.
In the 100 back, Cote was second in 1:28.05 and Adrianna Bither fourth in 1:36.78.
Caribou’s 400 free relay team took the top spot. Made up of Thibeault, Cote, Yakel, Engstrom, the team had a time of 5:26.26.
