BREWSTER – Irene J. Ginn, 96, passed away in Brewster, MA on February 5, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Ginn, who died in 1977. Irene was born in Caribou, the daughter of the late Albert and Hildur (Thenser) Bengtson.
Irene graduated from Caribou High School. She was an active member of Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church in New Sweden. She and her husband Russell were married in 1945 and lived in the Worcester area until they moved to the Cape in the mid-1960’s. Irene worked in the South Boston Navy Yard as a tack-welder and worked in the office as well during World War II. She was also an active member of the First Lutheran Church in West Barnstable until her mid 80’s. Later, she worked at Treasure Island and Moby Dick’s, as well as volunteering at the American Heart Association. Irene loved the outdoors, music, dancing, and reading.
Irene is survived by one, much loved and loving daughter, Loris Ginn VanLare of Chatham, MA.

Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. Burial will be private.
