Reginald Ward of Presque Isle was recently presented with the Maine Motor Transportation Association Driver of the Year Award. Pictured are, from left, Tim Freeman, Carter Vaillancourt and Chad Marquis, all of Daigle Oil Company, Ward, Scott Haley and Bert Levesque, both of Daigle Oil Company.
Ward, a truck driver employed by HO Bouchard Inc., has been driving a truck for thirty six years getting his loads safely from one place to the other. Products transported include log cabins to the mid west, lumber in Maine and New Brunswick, wood chips throughout the state and over the past three years, hauling gasoline and fuel exclusively to Daigle Oil Company.
The 3.3 million miles he has clocked in over the years has been done accident free, which is an amazing record. Not without challenge either for Maine roads can be icy, snowy, hilly and scattered with moose, especially on his way to Fort Kent.
On Jan. 8, the MMTA recognized Ward’s accomplishment and presented him with an award at their annual banquet; Ward was truly surprised and honored.
Officials with Daigle Oil Company (DOC), also proud of his accomplishments, recently presented Ward with a jacket in honor of his safety record. They wished Ward the best in reaching the four million mile milestone before he retires.
