The Maine Educational Talent Search program, or METS, is a federal initiative established to encourage more young people to set high academic expectations, stay in school, study hard, and take the courses needed to prepare them for college-level studies.
Velma Murphy Graham, METS Adviser, seeks qualified applicants for limited openings for sixth-graders at Caribou Middle School. Interested families should contact METS headquarters for an application or contact the Caribou Middle School Guidance Office. Applicants must be interested in expanding their educational opportunities, work hard and participate in meetings, workshops and college trips over the next six years. The ideal candidate for this program should be from modest income families with parents who do not have a four-year college degree.
METS enrolls students in the sixth grade and works with them until they graduate high school and enter college. To apply for these free services, please call 1-(800)-540-0493 and ask for a METS application for services.
