Stone and Streinz lead field at Towle ski frolic

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine —  The 14th annual Himie Towle Memorial Winter Frolic was held March 7 at the Nordic Heritage Center, with Paul Stone taking first in the 10-kilometer race for men and Lydia Streinz leading the women’s field.


Stone was followed by Justin Fereshetian and Seth Hubbard on the men’s side, while Hannah Streinz and Mikeala Paluszek were second and third, respectively, in the women’s division.
In the 5K competition, Caleb Streinz was the boys’ winner, while Abigail Streinz won for girls.
A number of kids races were also held during the event.
Division winners were as follows: boys 5 and under, first, Ben Chartier; and second, Ethan Halpine; boys’ 6-7, Jacob Halpine; girls’ 6-7, Hannah Chartier; boys’ 8-9, first, Luke Streinz; and second, Jaden Picard; girls’ 8-9, first, Paige Murphy; and second, Julia Bartley; boys’ 10-11, first, Aaron Halpine; and second, Ethan Edgecomb; girls’ 10-11, first, Abigail Rossignol; and second, Daisy Grady; boys’ 12-13, first, Devin White; and second, Tyler Dooling.
The Himie Towle race is part of the Aroostook Cup Series and this year’s event featured more than 70 competitors.
