Gene’s Electronics Inc. of Fort Kent, with locations in Caribou, Presque Isle and Houlton, recently hired Nolan Powers of Caribou to travel across Aroostook County to let people know about the products and services Gene’s provides.
According to Stephanie Oliver, owner of Gene’s Electronics, the salesman is a part-time student at Northern Maine Community College. “His hopes as a new Gene’s Electronics employee are to try and satisfy the needs of customers in their television viewing experience along with giving them confidence in Gene’s Electronics and the DISH TV product,” said Oliver.
Door-to-door sales have been making a recent comeback as some businesses use the technique to reach potential customers that might normally be unavailable because of their location, presence on a do-not-call list, or a lack of access to technology.
Oliver said her company is using a strategy where Powers will mostly visit homes in the early evenings and on weekends when families tend to be home in order to reach out to as many households as possible. She said the company wishes Powers well and hopes this old-but-new method will benefit all.
