A number of local young ladies will take the stage this Saturday for the chance to wear two Caribou crowns.
The Caribou Lioness Club and Lister Knowlton VFW Ladies Auxiliary will host the Miss Caribou Scholarship Pageant and the Little Miss Caribou pageant at the Caribou Performing Arts Center March 28 at 7 p.m.
This is the first time that the two groups have worked together on this community event. Betty Walker of Caribou will be emcee for the competitions. Courtney Sheldon, Miss Caribou 2014, will also be providing piano and vocal entertainment during the show.
Contestant number one for the title of Miss Caribou 2015 is Kelsey Jean Kiehn. She is the 16-year-old daughter of John and Kim Kiehn of Caribou. Kelsey is a junior at Caribou High School and will be performing a vocal selection for her talent. Her sponsors are Beaulieu’s Garage and Sonny’s Gun Shop.
Contestant number two is Nicole Wickstrom. An 18-year-old senior at CHS, she is the daughter of Jon and Penny Wickstrom of Caribou. She will be perform a flute instrumental for her talent presentation. She is sponsored by Frederick’s Southside Restaurant.
The third and final contestant for the Miss Caribou title is Molly Rae Adams. Molly is the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Jillian Adams of Caribou and a junior at CHS, and will be performing a lyrical dance choreographed by the Maine Dance Academy. She is sponsored by the Par & Grill.
A total of $800 in scholarships will be awarded to the three contestants. The remainder of the proceeds from the event will be distributed to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In the running for the Little Miss crown are contestants Madelyn Cote, Isabella Cherrier, Libby Collier, Maddison Jackson and Emma Christie.
