A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at the Parish of hte Precious Blood, Limestone, followed by a time of continued fellowship in the St. Louis Church reception area. LIMESTONE & FROSTPROOF, FL – Rainald Augustus Gervais, Sr., 82, husband of Sandra (Bubar) Gervais, passed away Thursday evening, April 2, 2015, at his winter home in Frostproof Florida. He was born October 15, 1932, in Caswell, the son of George B. and Olympe (Rioux) Gervais.
He attended Caswell schools and was a potato grower for fifty-two years. Rainald held the destinction of being named one of the Top 100 potato growers in 1987, with an operation spanning from Hamlin to Presque Isle. He was involved in all aspects of production growing, packing, shipping, importing and financing. As an entrepreneur, Rainald also owned and operated several other businesses including Pea Viners, a Farm Parts Store, a Sound Center and a Budget Motor Inn. Mr. Gervais was involved in many community organizations and charities including Limestone Rotary Club where he served as past president, the Limestone Knights of Columbus Council Number 2851 where he served as grand knight, the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly Number 1751, the Limestone – Caswell Potato Growers Association, and served as chairperson with the Caswell Board of Selectman for several years. Retiring in 1998, Rainald spent winters in Florida and Limestone in the summer with his wife Sandra. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Rainald was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and John Gervais; two sisters, Ada Markley and Georgia Berbue; and his first wife, Althea Gervais.
He is survived by his wife Sandra of Limestone and Frostproof, FL; children, Greta Gervais of Presque Isle, Rainald Gervais Jr. and his wife, Pam, Daniel Gervais, all of Caswell, step-daughter, Lynn McDougal and her companion, Mark Nadeau, of Caribou; grandchildren, Trevor Michaud and his wife, Danielle, of Limestone, Nichole Michaud and her husband, Eric, of Presque Isle, Heather Bourque and her husband, Joe, of Old Town, Rainald Gervais III, Joe Gervais and his wife, Joanne, all of Caribou, Matthew Hamilton of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, and Mike Nadeau of Caribou; great-grandchildren, Emily Michaud of Limestone, Isabella Harvath of Presque Isle, Sage Geravis and Quinn Geravis, both of Caribou; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday April 8, 2015, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone with Fr. Kyle Doustou celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the St. Louis Church reception area. Spring interment will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone.
