Two runners with local ties were among the field of nearly 30,000 competing in Monday’s Boston Marathon.
This was the 119th running of the famed 26.2-mile race from Hopkinton, Mass. to Boston.
Spencer McElwain of Arundel, a 25-year-old Caribou native and former University of Maine standout runner, finished the race in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 3 seconds to place 133rd overall.
Robert Gomez, who graduated from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics and resides in Portland, came in 167th in 2:36:32.
