Loring Job Corps Center officials recently announced Jorge Lopez as the Star Student of the quarter.
Lopez is an electrical student at LJC, and in addition to his work at the center also participates in work-based learning at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, helping with ongoing expansion of the hospital.
“Since his arrival, Jorge has proven that he is a goal-oriented young man with a desire to not only better himself but everyone around him,” said Roger Felix, business and community liaison at Job Corps. “The center is proud of Jorge’s accomplishments both on and off center. His dedication assists the staff in its continued efforts to train tomorrow’s workforce.”
According to staff, everyone who has met Lopez would agree that his work ethic is by far one of the best the center has seen in years, and his can-do attitude is contagious, making him a leader on and off center. He can often be found assisting his fellow students on a daily basis though positive motivation and showing them what right looks like, Felix added.
Lopez plans on completing his education at Loring and becoming a productive member of the workforce in northern Maine.
Lopez said he is grateful for the partnerships Job Corps has within the community and is honored to have the ability to work alongside industry leaders here in The County. He thanked staff and students for selecting him for the prestigious title and would like everyone to know that everyone has the capability to become successful, and that believing in yourself is the first step to being successful.
