Walk for Life Thursday in PI
The Pregnancy Care Centers of Aroostook will hold its “Walk For Life” in Fort Kent, Presque Isle and Houlton Thursday beginning with registration at 6:30 p.m.
The walk, which begins at 7 p.m., is one of PCC’s largest fundraisers and needs the help of our community. This is a police-escorted two-mile walk and will be held rain or shine.
Participants are asked to get a sponsor sheet, ask friends, neighbors, family or co-workers to sponsor, record the sponsors and collect the money. Those who raise $100 or more receives a T-shirt.
Call 554-8396 to request a sponsor sheet or go online to www.pcc-hope.org. For those unable to walk but would still like to sponsor a walker, call 554-8396. Specific walk locations are Jalbert Park in Fort Kent, State Street Baptist Church on Second Street in Presque Isle and the Pregnancy Care Center on 56 Military Street in Houlton.
Those unable to walk that evening but still looking to participate can get a sponsor sheet, secure sponsors, walk independently and drop the sponsor sheet along with the money collected to the Pregnancy Care Center.
Free cedar seedlings available
CedarWorks of Rockport is making available 10,000 northern white cedar seedlings, to be given free to landowners beginning on May 16.
The Upper St. John River Organization (USJRO) and Aroostook County Conservation Association (ACCA) will distribute the trees. The seedlings are 6-8 inches in height and bundled in groups of 50.
CedarWorks, which makes children’s cedar play sets, donates the trees to replenish what they use in their products.

Senior Driver Expo
To help sharpen the driving skills of drivers 50 and older, Cary Medical Center, Pines Health Services and the Ft. Fairfield Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a free driver education and engagement event.
The AAA Senior Driver Expo at the Fort Fairfield Community Center will be held on Friday, May 15, from 9 a.m. until noon. Following the Expo at 12:30 p.m., there will be a screening of the film “Old People Driving,” a documentary film.
