CARIBOU – Wayne B. Hewitt, 78, passed away on May 23, 2015, at a Presque Isle health care hospital. He was born in Caribou on July 15, 1936, the son of Clinton and Margaret (Nadeau) Hewitt.
Wayne was a man of strong faith. For many years he drove a van for the bus ministry of the United Pentecostal Church of Caribou with his wife, Carol. He also served for 15 years there as an usher. In his later years, he also attended the Abundant Life Mission Church.
He loved visiting people, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time at his camper in Woodland and listening to music at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou, and listening to country gospel music in general.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Little) Hewitt of 53 years; his children and their spouses, Travis and Anne Hewitt of Caribou, Karen and Mark Stewart of Shirtz, TX, and Kristi and Brian Kenefick of Rolling Oaks, TX; his sisters, Clarice Schwartz of MN, and Maxine Langille, Norma Gudreau and Margarey Brown all of Presque Isle; his sister-in-law, Marie Hewitt; his grandchildren, Josh, Brittany, Loriah, Logan, Britney, Brandon and Collin; his great-grandchildren, Allyson, Jarcues, Aubrianna, Austin and Raylynn. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by a son, Wayne Jr.; eight brothers, Harley, Clayton, Wallace, Clinton Jr., Earl, Frank, Maurice and Otis; and three sisters, Mona, Esther and Muriel.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland, Pastor Loretta Doody officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.lancastermorgan.combangor.
