Tennis teams eye post-season

The Caribou tennis teams were scheduled to wrap up the regular season with a match in Presque Isle Tuesday afternoon.
The Vikings had beaten the Wildcats at home last Wednesday, with the boys winning 3-2 and the girls 5-0.
The doubles teams helped provide the margin of victory in the boys’ match, as Alec Cyr and Austin Scott prevailed in first doubles and Emerson Duplissie-Cyr and Austin Cheplic came out on top in the other match.

Caribou’s other winner was Brendan Cyr in second singles.
For the girls, Gabrielle Marquis, Conner Spencer and Makayla Bouchard all won in singles, while the doubles teams both were victorious by forfeit.
On Saturday, the Vikings made the trip to Bangor and finished up a suspended match against John Bapst, while also squaring off against Old Town. Both Caribou teams were bested by the Crusaders, while they blanked the Coyotes.
In the Heal Point standings, the Caribou boys went into their finale as the No. 4-ranked team in Eastern Maine Class B with an 11-1 record, while the girls stood at 9-2 and in sixth place.
The preliminary round of the playoffs is set for June 2, with the quarterfinals June 4 and the semifinals June 6.
The state singles tourney will be played Friday and Saturday at Colby College in Waterville, with Gabrielle Marquis, Michael Marquis and Ethan Plourde all taking part for the Vikings.
