A local student was among 369 new degree recipients at the University of Maine at Farmington’s annual commencement ceremony May 16.
Philip Smith of Caribou earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology.
UMF President Kathryn A. Foster, faculty, administrators and dignitaries led the procession of new graduates marching to traditional bagpipe music. Joan Benoit Samuelson, Olympic gold medalist and champion for women’s distance running, delivered the commencement address.
