LIMESTONE, Maine — Elections for the Board of Selectpeople, the Board of Trustees for the Water and Sewer District and Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 Board of Education will be held on June 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town office.
There are two three-year terms open for the Board of Select People. Candidates for those positions are Melissa Devoe, Harold C. Grass and Gregory A. Ward.
“Our town is facing a mil rate of over 25 this year, which is one of the highest in Aroostook County,” Devoe said. “Limestone has a large population of taxpayers who live on a fixed income and the continued tax increases are a burden for those citizens.” Devoe has been a member of the budget committee and would love the chance to represent Limestone and work on solutions to economic issues.”
Limestone native Harold C. Grass said his goal if he’s elected would be to keep taxes down and look to the future.
Gregory A. Ward, also a town native, said he would like to be elected to the Board of Selectpeople so that he may have the opportunity to explore ideas and stay involved with his community.
A one-year term is open for the Board of Selectpeople. Candidates are Christopher J. Gura and Paul A. Poitras.
One three-year term is open for the Board of Trustees for the Water and Sewer District, and the only candidate is Charles H. Kelley.
Also, a three-year term for the Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 Board of Education is open with Michelle M. Albert as the only candidate.
