CARIBOU, Maine — David Hunter, a dual-enrolled second-year student in the Caribou Regional Technology Center’s computer servicing program, and a student in Northern Maine Community College’s computer networking class. Being dual-enrolled means he goes to class at CRTC and gets high school credit and credit as if he were going to NMCC. When he completes the computer-servicing program at the end of this school year, he will receive three college credits from NMCC.

On April 30 David went to NMCC to take the take the CompTIA Network+ certification exam along with the college students. He passed this rigorous exam with flying colors.
The Network+ designation is vendor-neutral technology certification that verifies the certified individual has the skills and knowledge needed to take on a pivotal role in building, managing, and protecting computer networks.
CRTC instructor Lisa Anderson was delighted with David’s accomplishment.
“Although we have offered dual enrollment with NMCC for the last few years, this is the first time a second-year independent study student in the Caribou technology center’s computer servicing program has taken advantage of this opportunity to earn the Network+ certification along with college credit,” Anderson said. “David has worked very hard to prepare for this challenge. It is a real privilege to work with such a capable and dedicated student.”
