FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — This year’s 27th annual Tiger Basketball Camp was another big hit for all the players and families attending. Over 250 boys and girls from Maine, Canada and as far away as Ohio attended either the boys’ or girls’ week and were entertained with the “championship Friday” events and family barbecue that fed nearly 500 people each Friday.
The boys’ camp took place June 22-26 and the girls’ camp June 29-July 3.
“These were two very competitive and exciting weeks for all our players and staff alike,” said director Larry Gardner. “We are very fortunate to have a great and very dedicated staff that is committed to giving all players the best possible instruction and experience possible.”
This year’s camp MVPs, selected by the coaches, were Austin Findlen of New Sweden and Ashlee Harris of Blaine. Each were given MVP basketballs.
Two players — one boy and one girl — were the lucky winners of two Boston Celtics’ tickets each for the upcoming season. Isaac Potter of Houlton and Molly Kingsbury of Presque Isle were the winners drawn from all the eighth-graders attending their final year of camp.
