BANGOR — Emera Maine customers will see adjustments in their transmission rates, which went into effect July 1.
For a typical residential customer in the Maine Public Service district, these rate adjustments will amount to a total bill decrease of approximately 93 cents per month, Emera officials said.
Transmission rates are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and updated annually based on a pre-set formula. Transmission costs may go up or down, depending on transmission system operating and maintenance costs, the need to replace aging infrastructure, and other factors.
“A reliable electric grid is critical to our economy and our every-day lives,” said Alan Richardson, president and chief operating officer. “We know that customers count on it, as they count on us, to provide reliable service.”
The adjusted rates, posted at emeramaine.com as of July 1, indicate that for year-round residential customers the rate is $6.13 per kwh for the first 100 kwh per month and 6.127 cents/kwh thereafter.
