PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Free tuition will be offered to two students enrolled at Northern Maine Community College during the upcoming academic year (2015-2016) thanks to a fundraiser by the NMCC Alumni & Friends Organization and the generosity of the College.
“We were looking for a way to raise funds for our organization so we can better reach out to alumni through activities such as Homecoming and regional gatherings,” explained Mark Bouchard, president of the alumni group. “This is the third year we are holding a tuition raffle. Last year this raffle made it possible for two students to return to NMCC tuition free.”
Northern Maine Community College President Tim Crowley has been exceptionally supportive of the idea by agreeing to make the tuition awards available and allowing the alumni organization to retain all the proceeds.
“This is an opportunity for the College to support our alumni organization, whose members have been a great resource for us. They have volunteered their time and expertise to organize our annual Homecoming, to help during graduation and much more. By assisting them in raising funds so they may offer events, the group will become an even more vibrant organization for their fellow alumni,” said President Crowley. “Also NMCC is happy to lift most of the financial burden for two lucky students for the coming academic year through this raffle.”
Tickets are available for a contribution of $10 per ticket. Tickets will be available from the NMCC alumni office on campus and from members of the NMCC Alumni & Friends Organization.
The winning tickets will be drawn on August 24, 2015. Ticket sales will end August 21. The lucky students who win will receive free tuition for up to 12 credit hours for the fall 2015 semester and another 12 credit hours for the spring 2016 semester.
Last year, Heather Copeland of Easton and Tyler Chasse of Ashland were the raffle winners.
