FORT KENT, Maine– Awards and scholarships were presented to deserving University of Maine at Fort Kent students at the senior class banquet and awards convocation held recently in the UMFK Sports Center.
The annual event, held the evening prior to commencement, is designed to honor graduating students for outstanding achievement throughout their years at the University and to award underclassmen, who are continuing their education at UMFK, with financial assistance in recognition of their hard work and campus involvement.
Those receiving awards from the local area included the following:
Carlee Pinette of Caribou, who received the Hubert J. Thibodeau Award, given to an education student who has a record of good scholastic achievement and shows promise to be an excellent future teacher.
Devon Cote of Connor Twp., Environmental Studies Award for his outstanding achievement and work in the major area of study.
Chandra M. Von Merta of Limestone, Biology Award, which is given to a student in recognition of academic excellence and expected future contributions within the area of biology.
Shawn Dubay of Caribou, Information Security Award, for his excellence in the study of information security.
Connor Lapierre of Hamlin, Conservation Law Enforcement Award in recognition of academic excellence and future contributions within the area of conservation law enforcement.
Timothy Blair of Caribou, Outstanding Accelerated Nursing Student Award.
Jonathan Chasse of Van Buren, Faculty Academic Achievement Award and Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
