Woodland board gets mid-year update

WOODLAND, Maine — Woodland Selectmen met briefly July 21, 2015 to review year-to-date expenses and income for the town.

Motor vehicle excise fees are down by about $3,700  compared to June of last year. Also, the waste disposal cost center with Tri-Community Landfill is on track with projections.

“For the expense and revenue report: the Animal Control and Travel account looks like it’s over budget, but we are waiting for reimbursement from New Sweden,” said Amber Moutinho, administrative assistant and treasurer. “As of today, we have also collected 27.03 percent of 2015,” she added.

Steve Dumais, road commissioner, provided the Highway Department Report.“We lowered a driveway pipe on the Thibodeau road,” said Dumais. “We also fixed a pipe on the Colby Road. We had to take the motor out of a well digger, and replace a few other parts. Pretty much everything else is going good so far, and that’s all I have to report.”

Woodland Selectmen discussed a tax acquired property that is being put out to bid. The property includes a house, which is currently unoccupied. It also includes roughly 16 acres of land.

Selectman Carl Grant made a motion to start the bidding at $41,000. Selectwoman Peggy Espling suggested a minimum bid of $45,000, to cover advertising costs. Grant offered a compromise of $43,000 and the board motioned to set the minimum bid at this price.

Grant asked his fellow selectmen if there were any new business items to discuss. Everyone agreed that there were no new items to cover, and also that there were no documents to sign or review.

No public comments were made, and the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
