To the editor:
I take personal offense to Paul Camping (of the Secession Committee) suggesting in his letter to the Aroostook Republican editor (7/22/15 edition) that I was appointed to the Caribou Planning Board by the Caribou City Council in return for speaking in favor of improving the Caribou Municipal Airport.
There were six people appointed to the Planning Board that evening. If I was appointed for “being a good soldier”, please tell me, what did the other five appointed do for the City? I understand that you were one of the 14 that applied and you didn’t get appointed; are you just expressing sour grapes over that?
I wish you had been appointed to the Planning Board so you could have been one of the seven Planning Board members that worked to produce the Caribou Comprehensive Plan. Had you been appointed, we may not be wasting all this time discussing this alleged fabrication of yours regarding an anti-rural bias by the city of Caribou.
By the way, there are people that live in “Lyndon” on the Planning board. Did they collude with the City to create the anti-rural bias?
Maybe politics back in New York where you are from is all about scratching each other’s backs and maybe that’s how you personally operate (only a thief locks his door) but I for one deal with everyone (including you) in a fair and honest manner. My prior letter to the editor was based upon how you unfairly twisted words from the Comprehensive Plan to fabricate the anti-rural bias allegation. After all, if you think everyone only does things if they are rewarded in exchange, are we all being paid by the Aroostook Republican to continue this verbal exchange so they can sell more newspapers?
