Charity golf tourney set at PICC Saturday

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Junior Achievement Aroostook Charity Golf Event will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at Presque Isle Country Club.

Formerly known as the KeyBank Charity Golf Event, the tourney’s proceeds will go toward Junior Achievement programs in Aroostook County.

Junior Achievement works to education and inspire Maine youth to value free enterprise, business and economics. Everything from personal finance to entrepreneurship is covered during the lessons, which include hands-on activities to keep students engaged. Over 650 students in grades K-12 participate in Aroostook County at no charge.

Dead River Company, KeyBank and the Presque Isle Rotary Club are the major sponsors. All golfers registered will be entered into a drawing for a heat pump and installation, valued at over $4,000, courtesy of Dead River Company.

Prizes include cash for winning teams with the lowest gross and net scores for both men and women. Hole-in-one, closest to pin, longest drive and putting contests will also take place during the day. The hole-in-one prize is a new car, provided by Griffeth Ford-Lincoln-Mitsubishi-Honda. A barbecue lunch, sponsored by Star City IGA, will be provided to all participants.

The shotgun start is at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. There is no minimum handicap for the three-person teams. Registration is $120 per team.
