STOCKHOLM, Maine — A Fort Kent man died in a two-vehicle accident after another driver ran a stop sign late Friday night at an intersection with Route 161, according to Maine State Police Lt. Brian Harris.
Jesse Bouchard, 24, of Fort Kent died after being ejected from the vehicle, Harris said Saturday morning.
Bouchard was a passenger in a 2003 Toyota sport utility vehicle driven by Lori Levesque, 25, of Fort Kent, traveling south on Route 161 in Stockholm around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Also in the car with Levesque were Justin Davis, no age given, of Fort Kent, and a 2-year-old.
At the same time, according to Harris, Amanda Ouellette, 19, for Fort Kent, was traveling west on Lake Street in a 2001 Jeep SUV with her sister, Alyssa Ouellette, 23, also of Fort Kent.
As Ouellette approached the intersection of Lake Street and Route 161 she failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled directly into Route 161 and struck the driver’s side of Levesque’s SUV, Harris said.
The impact forced the Toyota off the opposite side of the roadway into a ditch, where it rolled over onto the passenger’s side, Harris said.
Bouchard was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the officer.
Levesque, Davis and the child were brought by ambulance to Cary Medical Center for treatment, Harris said.
Amanda Ouellette and Alyssa Ouellette also were taken to Cary Medical Center, where they were treated and released, Harris said.
The accident remains under investigation.
