Nominations for city council needed

CARIBOU, Maine — Do you have what it takes to serve your fellow man and fair city? Then perhaps a seat on the Caribou city council is for you.

Seats currently held by Philip J. McDonough, II and Tiffany J. Stewart on the city council are up for grabs, leaving two three-year terms available. Kent Forbes’ term on the RSU 39 school board ends later this year and his seat will be available leaving a three-year term open. Betty J. Hatch’s position on the Jefferson Cary Memorial Hospital Fund board will be open leaving a three-year term available.

Anyone interested in holding an elective city position must be a registered voter in Caribou. To include your name listed on the ballot you need at least 25 signatures from Caribou registered voters (but no more than 50).

Nomination forms are available at the City Clerk’s office on High Street. Deadline is Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 and all forms must be turned in no later than 5 p.m. Polls will be open at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation center on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
