Alumni race

     This event is a strong cross-country tradition at Caribou High School and this year will be held Friday, Aug. 21 at CHS under the lights.

      This race is for people of all ages. Categories include: 50 and older, high school and elite runners, and eighth grade and younger.

     Teams can have a maximum of five people, but, must have at least three to score. These teams may be men’s, women’s or co-ed.

     There is no entry fee. Runners will start in groups according to their age, each group starting at one minute apart. Therefore, everyone has a fair chance of winning. Scoring will be by place, not time, and winners will receive official Alumni race T-shirts. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and the race at 7:45 p.m. Please come and join this fun event.

Club championship results

     The club championship at Caribou Country Club was held Aug. 1. The overall winner was Steve Gagnon, who shot a 4-under-par 68 for the ninth title of his career. The women’s winner was Emily Jose, the senior men’s winner was Rick Umphrey and the senior women’s winner was Jane Umphrey.

     CMS boys win soccer opener

     A good passing game and strong defense lifted Caribou past Madawaska, 2-0, in the middle school soccer mutual opener played Aug. 12.

     Ethan Holdsworth and Parker Deprey were the Viking goal scorers, with Tiernan Barbosa picking up an assist. Cullin Caverhill had an outstanding two-way game for CMS, while Riley Bouchard, Jordan Duplissie, Carter Belanger and Logan Cheplic were other solid contributors.

Golf tourney in Limestone

     The Limestone Community School Project Graduation Class of 2016 will be the beneficiary of a golf tournament, slated for Saturday, Aug. 22 at Limestone Country Club.

     Registration is at 8 a.m. and the tourney begins at 9 a.m. It is a four-person scramble with a fee of $100 per team. There will be a hole-in-one prize and cash payouts for the first-place teams in gross and net.

     The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 23.
