Two County men accused of stealing car, driving to Biddeford

CARIBOU, Maine — Two Aroostook County men are in the York County Jail after stealing a car that was parked at a Caribou restaurant Saturday and driving it to southern Maine, according to Caribou police.

Casey Clayton, 27, of Caribou and Ryan Young, 34, of Fort Fairfield were arrested Sunday in Biddeford by members of the Biddeford Police Department and each was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to Kevin St. Peter of the Caribou Police Department.

Clayton also was charged with possession of scheduled drugs and Young also was charged with refusal to submit to arrest, St. Peter said Monday morning.

The two took the 2002 Oldsmobile Alero from the parking lot of Reno’s Restaurant on Sweden Street in Caribou on Saturday evening, St. Peter said.

On Sunday, Biddeford police received a call about a suspicious vehicle, found the stolen Oldsmobile and arrested the two Aroostook County men, St. Peter said.

Both men were taken to York County Jail and will make their first court appearances Monday in York County District Court, according to an official at the jail.

St. Peter said the keys were in the Oldsmobile at the time it was taken. Residents should remember to take their keys and lock their vehicles to help prevent thefts, he said.
