“Good deeds do not go unnoticed,” and according to Jeff Higgins of Caribou, he is so thankful for that. After missing for 76 days, Tiger the cat, found his way back to his rightful owner.
Ten-year-old Tiger, went missing on June 11 and owner Jeff had been frantically searching for his beloved pet all over Caribou for the past two and a half months.
Jeff decided to put in an ad in the Aroostook Republican, with the help of a donation from a friend, a picture and description of Tiger was circulated.
A neighbor of Rena Baron of Caribou, saw the ad the same day, and they determined it was the missing cat. Rena found the cat three weeks ago and was able to coach him into the safety of her home with some “chopped up chicken” as he was “so skinny” according to Rena. Rena grew to love “Lady” as he was given the name, and had a few play toys and the run of her home. Rena placed a call to the local paper, as she could not reach the numbers listed on the ad. Just after only a few moments, and with some assistance for travel, Jeff showed up on the doorstep at Rena’s home.
The reunion was a joyous moment as seen on Jeff’s face. Tiger was a bit nervous and confused, and Rena was a bit apprehensive, as she wanted to make sure Jeff was the rightful owner. Rena was surprised to find out that Lady was indeed Tiger, as she was indeed a he … and with some coaching and catching, Tiger and Jeff were reunited.
It goes to show that in this day and age that majority of people are still good and are willing to go out of their way to help others, even the four-legged kind. It would be wonderful to see if the ripple effect of helping others and showing kindness, would flow into the next county, and into the next state, unto the next country and even across to the next continent. Can you imagine that? That would be a sight to see.
