Recreation center hours
Hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon-4 p.m. The facility is closed Sundays.
Introduction to Art
The center is offering an Introduction to Art class Tuesdays from 9:30-11 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. through late December. All ages and skill levels are welcome. This class will cover basic drawing skills, with the potential of covering watercolors, acrylics and other mediums, depending on the desires of those in attendance.
Pre-registration is required. The fee is $5.
Take It Outside fall series
The next Take It Outside Series trips are Oct. 18 (day hike to Debouillie), Oct. 20 (Bradford Camps at Munsungan Lake), Oct. 22 (Smith and Wesson and U.S. Border Patrol Station) and Oct. 27, 2015 (Amish Village in Smyrna).
Programs in November include an organic herbal medicine presentation by Natalia Bragg Nov. 5, a talk by Betty Rinehart on Tanzania Serengeti Africa on Nov. 10, indoor container gardening on Nov. 12, a bird feeder building workshop on Nov. 17.
Pre-registration is required. For more information, go to caribourec.org or pick up a brochure at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Trips will continue through November.
Winter program registration night
Registration for the winter and spring programs offered by the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will begin Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the wellness and recreation center. Program booklets can be viewed on the website caribourec.org and on the department’s Facebook page. Booklets will be distributed to students in school after harvest break and are also available at the recreation center’s main office.
Men’s basketball deadline
Anyone interested in having a team in the Caribou Men’s Basketball League this winter need to contact Matt Bouchard by Oct. 21. He can be reached by calling 493-4224 or by email at matt@cariboumaine.org.
