Future sanitariums? — A sanitarium for consumptives will, we predict, be established in Maine in the near future.  “What better location for one than Caribou can there be?  With our charming surroundings and pure, bracing air, this place is an ideal location for such an institution.”

Combination hard to beat — There was a combination on our streets yesterday hard to beat.  One fellow had a horse hitched to a Ford pulling it in; Henry Townsend drove a yoke of oxen hitched to a load of potatoes and Colbath and Anderson’s traction engine hitched to a one hundred barrel load of potatoes.

Caribou developer Phil Willey approached the board at its Oct. 4 meeting to request that zoning on a three-acre parcel of land on Farrell Street.  Willey intended to erect a two-story, 12-unit apartment complex there.

Harvest stall — Many area farmers are back in the fields following a record rainfall, which has stalled harvesting activity for the past two weeks.  Potato industry officials reported yesterday that recent dry, sunny weather should render the fields passable and would probably bring most harvesters back in action by today.
