Job Corps introduces networking program

LIMESTONE, Maine — Loring Job Corps in Limestone held a community relations luncheon on Oct. 22, 2015, in which they introduced the addition of a CISCO/Computer networking program and had a myriad of students show off their hard work in the ballroom lobby.

Job Corps plans to start offering the CISCO/Computer Networking program later this fall.

Job Corps Business and Community Liaison Roger Felix believes this program will “not only provide trained potential employees for the growing field, but also yield future leaders within the trade.”

Center Director Kristie Moir gave a brief speech after the audience finished a meal prepared by Job Corps students.

“We are very happy and pleased with the performance of this year’s program,” said Moir. “We’re ranked in the Top 20 of all Job Corps centers across the nation, which is quite an accomplishment. This is tied directly to the students’ ability to earn their high school diplomas, the completion of their training that they enrolled here to take advantage of, and also their literacy and numeracy gains.”

Felix also presented an award to Tempo Employment for “outstanding dedication and support to the mission of Loring Job Corps center.”

“When we do community relations meetings,” said Felix, “we do a bit of research to find out where in the county, or even beyond, is helping our students become successful. This time, we chose an organization that has helped us tremendously, especially over the last couple months.”
