AUGUSTA — Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center recently received the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA) 2015 Celebrating Excellence in Quality Award during a recognition ceremony held at the Augusta Civic Center.
The awards, which were presented by Maine First Lady Ann LePage, are given annually to long term care providers that are making significant strides towards achieving and maintaining quality. This award is designed to showcase facilities that have shown quality improvement gains through specific quality improvement processes designed to enhance quality care to residents.
Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center was recognized for its receiving the American Health Care Association’s national Bronze Award.
The center has also been recognized by U. S. News and World Report as one of Maine’s Best Nursing Homes for 2013, 2014 and 2015, and has been rated as a five-star (best) facility by the US government’s Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) since the inception of the five-star quality program in 2008.
According to MHCA President and CEO Richard Erb, “Maine’s long term care facilities provide compassionate quality care on a daily basis. Providers are genuinely committed to quality improvement efforts to better serve their residents. This luncheon and awards program are a tribute to their dedication and our way of saying thank you – we appreciate your work.”
MHCA is a nonprofit trade association representing 250 long term care providers statewide, including nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
