Martha E. Bernier

 

     LIMESTONE – Martha E. Bernier, 72, wife of Melvin Bernier, passed away Saturday evening, November 28, 2015, at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1943, in Caswell, the daughter of Albert and Eva (Lavoie) Perreault.

     Martha attended school in Caswell and worked at the Limestone High School Cafeteria for a number of years as well as assisting local farms seasonally. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, and was married to Melvin Bernier on July 18, 1970.

     Martha truly had a green thumb and always had a house full of plants and a beautiful flower garden. Her daily routine always included crossword puzzles and she never found one that she couldn’t complete. She also greatly enjoyed arts and crafts and was an avid ten-pin bowler.

     Martha’s grandchildren were her life and her family will remember her as having the world’s biggest heart and how children were magnetically drawn to her.

     In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by and infant brother, Morris Perreault.

     She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Melvin Bernier of Limestone; one daughter, Holly Nadeau; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Monique Nadeau, all of Caribou; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen Perreault of Hamlin, Wallace and Rachel Perreault of Ocala, FL, Conrad and Pauline Perreault of Van Buren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Stacy Shaw of Easton.

     Friends may call Wednesday December 2, 2015, from 7  to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception hall. Private interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Bernier to the charity or organization of one’s choice.
