LIMESTONE, ME & FLORIDA – Joyce Irene Poitras, 90, of Pinellas Park, passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015. She was born in Limestone to Lemuel and Beatrice Morrell.
Joyce graduated from Limestone High School, and went on to beauty school. She owned her own salon for several years. In 1944, she married Oscar Poitras and raised her family in Limestone.
She was active in The Garden Club, Daughters of Isabella, and St. Louis Parish. She was a wonderful homemaker and had many close and dear friends over the years. After the passing of her husband of 54 years in 1998, Joyce moved to Florida to be closer to family, and resided in Clearwater Cascades. She thoroughly enjoyed all of the friendships she made over the past 18 years, and all of the activities certainly kept her young. She enjoyed bowling, card playing, bingo and dominoes. Her greatest love was that of her family. She was celebrated in May for her 90th birthday with all of her family members present. That day was a highlight in her beautiful life. She was kindhearted, nurturing, and always saw the bright side of any situation. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three children, Robert (Waydette) Poitras, of Savannah, GA, Helen (Leo) Salvato of Scarborough, ME, and Scott (Suzanne) Roix of Largo; four grandchildren, Andrew (Libby) Poitras of Beverly, MA, Kristin (Rick) Kendall of Savannah, GA, and Max and Abby Roix of Largo; also a sister, Ruth Richardson of Elmira, NY, and a brother Fred (Pat) Morrell of Melbourne; and five great-grandchildren, Mackearney, Henry, and Lily Kendall, of Savannah, GA, and Alex and Abby Poitras of Beverly, MA.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar; and her daughter, Lyla Poitras.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at St Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone, ME. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
