Grade 8 boys’ team splits pair of games

The Caribou eighth-grade boys’ basketball team lost a league game to Houlton last Tuesday before bouncing back to stop Central Aroostook Saturday.

In the 71-52 loss to the Shiretowners, Parker Deprey and Alex Bouchard scored 15 points each and Benoit Levesque added 10 and Jake Berkoski nine. Cullin Caverhill spearheaded the defensive effort against the much taller Houlton squad.

The Vikings bested Central Aroostook, 71-36, thanks to excellent defense and an attacking running game. Berkoski had 24 points to lead the way, while Bouchard had 14 and Deprey nine. Levesque and Caverhill chipped in with seven each.

Brandon Jalbert, Cameron Ouellette, Logan Cheplic and Jay Belanger all played well on the defensive end of the floor for coach Steve Perreault’s team.
