NEW SWEDEN, Maine — The community of New Sweden is seeking those who are, or whose ancestors were from, the town to help plan its 150th birthday celebration.
The year 2020 will mark 150 years since the first settlers arrived in 1870. There will be a meeting at the New Sweden town office on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at 3 p.m. to form the first committees and discuss ideas for this event.
The New Sweden Historical Society and the town of New Sweden have given their endorsements, and organizers will be looking for sponsors as time goes on.
