CARIBOU – Raymond J. Ballard, beloved husband of the late Lorraine T. Ballard, died January 13, 2016, in Caribou. He was born in Caribou on May 26, 1930, to Herbert and Madeline M. Ballard.
Raymond was a Caribou resident for many years. He was a farmer for most of his working life from 1947-1971, worked in several food pro- cessing plants, and then retired with pride from J. M. Huber Corp in 1994.
Raymond was an active member of the Parish of the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Caribou. His bari- tone voice enriched the church choir, which he joined in 1998, and the choir enriched his life. He volun- teered for many years at the Good Samaritan thrift store. Raymond was also a long- standing member of Cursillo.
He is survived by three daughters: Althea (Ken) D’Andria of Port St. Lucie, FL, Raelene (Richard) Foley of Tuscon, AZ, and Liana (Richard) Gottlieb of Kernersville, NC; nine sons: Colin (Shirley) Ballard of Mapleton, Layne (Michelle) Ballard of Gettysburg, PA, Timothy (Kim) Ballard of Anchorage, AK, Leland
Ballard of Caribou, Daniel (Tammy) Ballard of Woodland, Curtis (Penny) Ballard of Fryeburg, Russell (Janet) Ballard of Caribou, Patrick (Paula) Ballard of Presque Isle, and Dwight Ballard of Manchester, CT; and by 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine of 50 years and his son, Peter.
Raymond has gone to the Lord and starts his Fifth Day as of January 13, 2016.
Friends called at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, between 3 and 5 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial was held at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic ChurchinCaribouonMonday, January18,at11a.m.,theVery Reverend Jean Paul Labrie, Celebrant. Interment will be held in the Spring at Webster Cemetery in Limestone.
