Caribou man faces 20 years for selling bath salts

     A Caribou man faces as much as 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine after pleading guilty of possessing and distributing bath salts.

     Dustin Giles, 30, pleaded guilty to the drug charges Jan. 12, 2016 in federal court in Bangor. He will be sentenced after a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office, said U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty II in a press release.

     According to court records, Giles conspired with others in Aroostook County from January 2012 to June 2014 to obtain bath salts from overseas via the Internet. Giles distributed the bath salts to multiple customers.

     The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Those agencies were assisted by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
