FORT KENT, Maine — Last year, the college ranking service CollegeChoice.net listed the University of Maine at Fort Kent as the 45th most affordable online college for bachelor’s degrees, and in a single year UMFK has advanced 20 positions to the 25th place, according to the group’s latest rankings.
UMFK is the only Maine campus to make the list.
UMFK officials stated the school has limited skyrocketing costs by offering courses online.
Through the RuralU and Early College programs, Maine high school students can achieve even greater savings and begin their college career with two years of college credit.
UMFK Interim President John Murphy said, “UMFK is excited to offer both online and Early College courses, which allow students to complete their degree sooner and therefor with less debt.”
The university utilizes more than 50 online instructors and tuition for online bachelor’s degrees starts at $330 per credit.
The researchers based their rankings on total cost, number of online degrees the university offers, and only considered schools with the highest form of regional accreditation. They aggregated their data from university websites and a variety of publications.
