CARIBOU – Philip W. Tomlinson, 94, passed away Feb. 10, 2016, peacefully at a Caribou hospital with his family. He was born in Caribou on May 4, 1921, the son of Wallace and Jane Tomlinson.

Phil served for thirty years in the United States Navy, including active duty in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was proud to be an original crew member and the last survivor of the U.S.S. Essex. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer and was also a Northern Maine Guide.
Phil is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy (Holmquist) Tomlinson of Caribou; his sons, David and his wife, Theresa of Elliot, and Robert of Madawaska Lake; his daughters, Phyllis Robbins and her husband, Elwood of Holly Hill, FL, and Susan Pellizzer and her husband, Jerry of Redwood City, CA.
He will also be missed by six grandchil- dren; three great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by his brothers, Roland and Sterling.
Friends and family called from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2016. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou, where a Memorial Service was held at 3 p.m., Rev. T.
